1) Your life must have been crazy in the last couple of weeks! Since graduating from Vocaltech last summer, what have you been up to?

Well, where do I start? It’s been really busy – I can’t remember it all!
I recorded my first single “you don’t scare me at all” which was released in September,07. I had a showcase for press and producers and teamed up with Hart Media and Zest Pr Company. I also did a music video for my video in Glastonbury and have been signed to Megabop records, a digital company.

2) What have been the highlights of the last 2 weeks?

Definitely going on GMTV and getting my name across to the world.

3)Are you looking forward to singing at the festival of remembrance in front of the queen herself? Tell us all about it! How did it come about?

Yes, I’m really looking forward to it. It’s a privilege really more than anything as it is for the poppy appeal and 50p of each download goes to the British Legion. I met Jim Dooley (head of a band called “The Dooleys”) in the Gorring Hotel in London, Jim asked for a demo, so we sent him a demo and he really liked my voice. He said he had a song written called “Remember Me” and played it to me. He asked me what I thought of the song and I said I wish it was mine. I then recorded the single that will be the official song for the poppy appeal!

4) Do you have any personal involvement in the performance, what does it mean to you?

Yes, my granddad fought in the war and I have friends fighting out in the Middle East at the moment so it is really important to me.

5) Has singing always been your main ambition?

Yes, since I can remember singing has always been my main ambition. When I was 7 years old, I was always being told to shut up, I’ve never wanted to do anything else!

6) What advice would you give to people who are looking to get started in the industry?

Just to never give up, be determined and be confident in your own ability.

7) Do you write your own songs or work alongside songwriters?

Well, I prefer to co-write as I generate more ideas from it. I’m co –writing with Mark Jaimes, Danny Saxon (both have worked with Simply Red) and Tom Dooley at the moment who are also producing my album.

8) What are your future plans after singing at the festival of remembrance?

We are working on the album which will be released around January time and I will be releasing the 3rd single come December, I will also be touring and promoting myself as much as possible.
I will be performing on the 3rd November at Cardiff Fireworks display and again in Birmingham.
Ultimately, long term I am hoping to try and get signed to a bigger label after the performance at the Festival of remembrance so we’ll see!

9) How important was studying at Vocaltech in helping you achieve your ambitions?

Very important!! It gave me confidence, taught me more about the industry and gave me a fantastic starting point. It was the best thing I’ve ever done. It made me find who I was (singing wise).

10) Do you think you would have been able to do it if you did not come to Vocaltech?

I don’t know, but I don’t think so as I wouldn’t have had the confidence as much as I do now.

Thanks very much Tori . We are really proud of you. Good luck with everything, I hope it goes really well! Keep in touch

Thanks. Yes, I will
